Platts is currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst to be responsible for analyzing, defining, and documenting user requirements, procedures, and issues, problems and opportunities. The Senior BA conducts joint design efforts to develop new solutions or value propositions for customers, to automate processing or to improve existing business processes within associated information systems. The Business Analyst is concerned with ensuring that any proposed technology solutions will meet customer needs and expectations. The Business Analyst also ensures that all documentation and associated communications are appropriate for the intended audience, e.g. technologists versus business personnel.
Gathering user requirements for new systems, enhancements to existing systems, and gap analyses for build/buy reviews, by analyzing business and information technology processes. This includes reviewing existing documentation, soliciting user requirements through interviews and workshops, and researching industry standards to determine best practices in specified areas
Documenting “As Is” and “To Be” processes at both high and low levels. Artifacts include process flows, Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents, Use Cases or User Stories, and wire frames. These artifacts document user / system interactions for specific system features and functions, help define new workflows, and help identify potential issues with the proposed solution(s)
Participating in the testing, training, implementation, and support of system requirements
Builds and manages relationships with business participants / project stakeholders
Reviews requirements in light of local / regional / global impact
Provides perspective for proactive risk management and conflict resolution
Develops comprehensive business requirements that bridge business / product needs with system specifications
Facilitates the design and/or re-engineering of workflows, creation of process models, design of UIs and navigation specifications
Delivers project communications and presentations
Provides project metrics used to assess project progress and ensures quality metrics are met
Manages requirements for projects that span multiple regions
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience or certification; Master’s degree a plus
A minimum of 7 years of business analysis experience; 2 years financial industry experience preferred
Experience with both RUP and Agile development methodologies, including Use Case-based Requirements Management and User Story development techniques
Knowledge of Rally and QC a plus
Extremely strong communications / influencing skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a matrix environment and to use influencing skills to build consensus among disparate stakeholders
Ability to work independently; Strong analytical skills
In-depth knowledge of Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Ability to think strategically; Meeting management skills
Familiarity with usability principals and techniques a plus
Experience with offshore development partners a plus
High level understanding of various technologies (e.g. BPM, ETL, Master Data Management etc) and associated business purpose/values preferred
