Primary Job Responsibilities
The Business Intelligence & Analytics team’s mission is to (i) provide decision support through world-class business and site analytics, (ii) drive operational projects to reach Shopping.com’s objectives by advancing the merchant marketing, consumer marketing and product efforts and (iii) shape Shopping.com’s long-term strategy in a highly competitive Online Lead Generation market.
The Business Analytics Manager, reporting to the Director of Business Operations & Analytics, will gain exposure to many areas of the company with the US and International teams, including research and technology, product management and product development, finance, business development, marketing, pricing, account management, merchant sales, data warehousing, statistics and information technology.
This role will serve as a key member of the team and the go-to person on whom the Director of Business Operations & Analytics will primarily rely. Responsibilities will include:
Oversee the implementation of tracking and monitor the impact of product releases on business performance
Understand the evolution of Shopping.com’s features, the steps taken to optimize it and the challenges associated to it
Guarantee the ongoing quality of existing operating and output metrics measured, including their correlation with short-term and long-term business performance
Propose potential improvements in the processes and methodologies used for site analytics
Examples include the following: assessment of improvement in relevance quality score, short-term and long-term impact of front-end releases on business metrics, bug detection; etc.
Coach a team of analysts to develop and maintain reports, dashboards and scorecards that track key product and business metrics as well as regular and ad-hoc analyses, including beta testing, for tactical daily operations and key product releases
Communicate results and recommend action steps
Identify and understand key issues, applying strong analytical thinking and modeling skills
Develop conclusions based on analysis/research
Share with the team and, when required, develop presentations for senior management and critical external constituents
Generate a point of view on next steps
This role will guarantee the quality of the statistical / analytical methodologies used across the company and train the teams when necessary to ensure a high level of analytical rigor
Develop and enforce a standard for statistical / analytical approaches
Ensure business decisions are sound and data-driven
Project management experience, especially coordinating/managing multiple projects at the same time.
People management experience strongly preferred
Ability to communicate fluently with business users, technical personnel and management across the organization
Capacity to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and translate them into relevant data queries to inform direction and strategy
Technical experience with databases and data warehousing concept/tools
Solid knowledge extracting data from various large relational databases with Oracle SQL queries and OLAP cubes required. Experience with PL/SQL and building Oracle stored procedures is a plus.
Experience with an enterprise B.I. reporting platform, especially MicroStrategy, is highly desirable.
Understanding of Internet data, HTTP Request and Response, HTTP methods
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SQL, PL/SQL, Visual Basic.
Fluent English required. Ability to speak French and / or German is a plus.
