The Job Mission
Develop domestic and international business in existing and new markets involving such aspects as commercial agreements, pricing, risk assessment and sales strategies for the Boiler Product Line business. Working closely with GPS, build upon existing and develop new relationships with frequent customer interface. Ensure that bids submitted and orders received are at acceptable profit levels. Resolve complex problems and implement solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
The Job Role
Identify and lead the pursuit of new boiler product line opportunities utilizing Company resources and experience base in traditional and non-traditional markets domestically and worldwide. Initiate customer visits, represent the product line portfolio, and develop planning efforts with other Company Sales and Business Development Managers. Establish and maintain close relationships with customers, support groups and other Alstom business units.
Evaluate market conditions, prepare presentations and proposal plans and develop cost effective strategies to achieve business unit objectives. Determine appropriate technical and contractual approach to proposals consistent with business unit guidelines.
Develop action plans for customers and coordinate plan implementation by participating business units, business areas and sales. Establish business/market segment strategies to achieve growth/profitability objectives and increase customer satisfaction.
Provide market feedback; organize and lead project teams consisting of various support groups to respond effectively to unique business opportunities and take advantage of unusual situations in the marketplace. Determine commercial viability of products and resources required.
Negotiate terms and conditions with customers and commercial arrangements with potential business partners and internal groups while effectively representing the organization.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or related field and 8 to 12 years of experience, or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated performance.
Strong background in boiler operations or previous work with utility customers a plus.
Requires strong communication skills to influence and negotiate with customers as well as managers. Requires in-depth understanding of corporate and business unit technical and commercial strengths, interrelationships with markets and ability to resolve complex problems.
Domestic travel required up to 70%. Foreign travel and availability for communications in any time zone may be necessary.
