We have a vacancy for a Business Development Associate in our Philadelphia office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Aberdeen’s business (acquiring new relationships and servicing existing) within the North American financial institutions arena.

Candidates will be responsible for: Prospecting and developing relationships within assigned target sectors, client groups or specified clients, concentrating on Bank and Trust firms or as otherwise directed by department objectives; representing Aberdeen Asset Management and all group products (separate account, commingled, 40 Act mutual fund) in a professional and informed manner to professional manager selectors, gatekeepers and advisors; developing an understanding of the internal structures and key individuals within assigned target clients as relevant to development objectives; ensuring that all significant client contact information and meeting notes are recorded on Salesforce and that such notes are distributed to relevant colleagues and groups; be available and active on opportunities to assist and cooperate with team members within department and wider global business development team; and providing strategy presentation/papers and updates as required to Senior Business Development Manager.

The desired candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with 3 years investment sales experience; strong investment knowledge, industry knowledge, and product understanding of traditional & alternative investments; strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written; the ability to interact confidently and effectively with senior representatives of Aberdeen’s clients and prospects; time management skills; and will be required to obtain the series 7 and 66 licenses within 120 days of employment.

Candidates must be able to travel as required up to 60% and have the ability to work overtime (possibly 0-10 hours per week).
