The Business Development Manager manages research, analysis and development of new business opportunities. The chosen candidate may develop licensing objectives, policies and programs, or initiate proposals, negotiations and presentations for the acquisition of licensing opportunities and technologies.

Detailed Description

· Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives

· Set goals for the work group, manage execution and measure results

· Select, manage, evaluate and develop staff

· Identify, evaluate and develop new business opportunities in order to expand the business and increase profitability

· Retain and expand existing company relationships, product lines or market segments; solicit new business from prospective customers and/or suppliers

· Oversee development and research activities to build on company strengths; identify potential new markets and business opportunities, increase market share, and strengthen the company’s competitive position within the industry

· Establish relationships with potential customers and suppliers; discuss unmet needs, problems, or complaints and arrange for meetings with appropriate WESCO representatives

· Call on existing or prospective customers within the framework of a business development call program

· Represent the company in identifying, evaluating and negotiating acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and start-ups in current and new business

· Develop plans to achieve growth and financial profitability via acquisitions, mergers and/or divestitures

· Compile and analyze statistics pertinent to the company's business development program, report results to senior management, and adjust programs as appropriate

· Represent the company in various civic and community functions to further enhance its image and develop additional business

· Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements

· Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers and competitors

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Strong business analysis, financial modeling and negotiation skills

· Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers both inside and outside the company

· Ability to spot new business opportunities and quickly evaluate opportunities

· Ability to analyze financial and operational data, statements and projections

· Ability to identify and cultivate external resources

· Ability to accurately recognize when request additional company resources

· Ability to establish a relationship of trust

· Ability to learn complex technical information quickly

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to simultaneously manage several projects

EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience required

· Financial analysis, sales and negotiation experience preferred

· Mergers and acquisitions experience preferred

EDUCATION

· Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration required

· Master's Degree in Business Administration preferred
