Position Title: Business Development Manager Status: Exempt
Reports to: Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Purpose: Responsible for managing sales activities and sales personnel in a given geographical or account-based territory . The primary objective of the Business Development Manager is to drive new engagement opportunities with Fortune 1000 OEM companies.
Plan and direct sales activities including prospecting for, closing, and managing assigned customer/prospect base.
Meet or exceed assigned revenue, customer attainment, and gross profit goals.
Hire, train, and develop account executives and account managers.
Meet with customers and prospects, determine needs and propose appropriate solutions.
Develop and present proposals in response to customer and prospect needs.
Develop and present account reviews to customer base.
Develop and monitor account plans and forecasts.
Provide a communication channel between the customer base and corporate operations.
Generate and present reports to executive management as assigned.
Responsible for assigned staff, including professional development and performance reviews.
Manage expenses generated by assigned staff with PDSi guidelines.
Comply with all applicable PDSi quality system requirements.
Maintain a safe and clean work area.
Received: General supervision received from VP, Sales and Marketing.
Given: General supervision to direct reports.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required, graduate degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience in direct sales and account management related to professional services, software, global logistics and hardware industries . It is a requirement the BDE candidate have previous experience and working knowledge of Customers, Prospects and Partners in PDSi’s primary OEM markets, with a focus on Telecommunications, Medical, IT, Defense, Imaging and Industrial Controls.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers, agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or board of directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic math skills, including formulas and percentages
Reasoning Ability: Make complex decisions requiring a significant amount of judgment. Decisions may affect product, process, employees, customers, suppliers, or any other business stakeholder.
Physical Demands: Position requires general office work (sitting, standing); manual dexterity needed for computer work with keyboard and mouse; requires walking, talking, seeing, hearing.
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the associate regularly works in an office environment. The work environment involves everyday discomforts that require normal safety precautions (e.g., the use of safe work practices with electronic equipment, avoidance of trips & falls). The working environment is well lit and the noise level is moderate. Regular travel may be required.
