Business Development Manager - Platts

Houston, TX

The Business Development Manager is responsible for nurturing and growing existing customers and finding new client accounts within a territory in North America. The individual will be responsible for strategic plans within their set territory, strong collaboration with aligned commodity specialist and deliver customer value by building sound strategy and solution.

Meets and exceeds revenue quotas.

Extensive Customer facing activity including prospecting new clients, ongoing development of existing accounts and driving sales.

Understand in depth set territory, customer accounts and bank of business; develop and implement comprehensive customer centric account strategy and territory plan that considers the big picture.

Develop and build meaningful relationships with key and influential contacts; Own Service Level Agreement and coordinate with all other commodity specialists to help ensure service levels and value-add needs are meet;

Deliver power points on product and market presentations.

Manage renewals and strengthen relationships with existing accounts. Service customers and prospects with quotes, demos and sample products. Prospecting new business manage incoming leads. Maintain a high lead to sales close conversion rate.

Maintain CRM activity log; Provide monthly reports to management; Produce an accurate monthly forecast; Build strong profiles for top 10 clients;


Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, adds value to the customer relationship by distilling, summarizing, interpreting and communicating information to facilitate its usefulness.

Consultative sales and negotiation skills experience, high integrity hunter adept to all phases of sales cycle from need creation, proposal, negotiation to deal closure.

Strong business acumen and financial analytical mind.

Strong organizational and time management skills

Minimum 5 years experience in a B2B corporate environment, solution selling.

Ability to travel frequently and work long hours.

Proven ability to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment.
