A Whelan Business Development Manager must represent Whelan's 10 Core Values of Truth-Telling, Promise-Keeping, Respect, Loyalty, Empowerment, Discipline, Leadership, Flexibility, Quality Assurance, and Results while performing the following function:

The Business Development Manager will be required to utilize appropriate marketing and sales methodologies to develop profitable business in security services in an assigned geographical area or business segment; and will follow-up as appropriate with clients/prospects to assess satisfaction with services and to identify additional business opportunities in order to achieve sales goals. Specific business development duties include but are not limited to:

Identify prospects and develop sales strategies from start to finish securing new business. Includes cold-calling, appointment setting, competitive analysis, pricing, coordination of presentations and proposals, in-office demonstrations, direct mail campaigns, and follow up activity.
Development of New Prospects.
Analyzes local & expansion markets to identify sales opportunities, prospective companies and associated buyers.
Developing pricing and business development strategies that include preparing proposals, RFP responses and scheduling sales presentations, all in collaboration with and under the direction of Region and/or local management
Work with local Management and Regional VP's to plan, conduct, and follow up on sales opportunities.
Maintenance and manage all prospects in an electronic database as specified by company
Follows-up on referrals and self generated leads to identify buyer influences and any timing issues; monitors prospects’ contract calendars; prepares reports on status of leads and other reports as required
Participates in trade associations, trade shows and networking events
Solicit orders from, and makes sales presentations to prospective customers by setting qualified appointments on a weekly basis in order to meet monthly, quarterly and annual sales goal.
Negotiate terms of sales, contract wording, timing of implementation, etc.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications :
We are seeking an experienced and proven self starter that is driven by results. A Whelan Business Development Manager needs to possess the following prerequisite skills:

Ability to call on the highest levels of decision makers in an organization with confidence for the areas represented (e.g., Director, VP, CFO, Manager, etc.)
Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, highly competitive, deadline oriented environment.
Self-motivated individual who exhibits a sense of urgency in all sales and service related activity.
Exceptional communication, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing skills. Strong emphasis on the ability to listen and present appropriate solutions.
Local travel is required for this position.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision
Understanding of how to develop and implement business strategies
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and proposal writing
Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard
Neat and professional appearance
Friendly and professional demeanor

Mandatory Prerequisites

Experience, Work History, and Education :
B.A. /B.S. in related field preferred (proper experience can be substituted for education)
5+ year’s solid experience in a business development position
Must be at least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements
Must be able to demonstrate a stable work history with at least one verifiable positive work reference
Have evidence of obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Must successfully pass an extensive background screening which will include criminal record checks (local, state and federal), drug test, skills assessment test, interviews, and personality profile
Negative result on pre-employment drug screen
Must have no criminal convictions as specified under Whelan Security guidelines.
Successful completion of Whelan’s Pre-Employment Assessment of Knowledge (PEAK)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
