Job Summary:
This role will support business goals by developing and deploying industry leading BI solutions which help to deliver increased profit and performance throughout the company. Successful Senior Business Intelligence Analysts are able to understand business processes, holistically gather and explore data, transform it into a tractable form, and present the story it tells to others. They are good problem solvers, are interested in the details, and are comfortable with ambiguity and working with large sets of data. The successful candidate will readily develop effective working relationships with business partners and technical experts in order to deliver top results.

Description of Essential Functions:
Build and utilize knowledge in the following technical areas:
MicroStrategy - reusable and flexible object design; fast prototyping of answers to business questions; discovery, visualization, and communication of trends, patterns, and other insights from data sets.
SQL - multi-pass ROLAP, analytical functions, nested set, and hierarchies; ability to understand and leverage the differences between various database implementations, specifically Netezza, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server and MS Access.
Data Warehouse - patterns for time variance and generic vs. explicit data structures, a standards-based approach for object names and data types, the ability to document and explain business objectives through logical data models.
Data Science - Obtain, scrub, explore, model, interpret data; communicate related insights.
Geographic Information Systems - geospatial data, GIS analysis and workflow, cartographic and graphic design principles.
Continuously improve the quality and usability of corporate information assets. Champion standardization, integration, and ubiquity of BI tools and processes.
Collaborate with management, project managers, and IT to evaluate required data and reporting functionality, communicate tradeoffs and alternative solutions, and plan out, prioritize, and lead related development efforts.
Work with cross-functional project teams to incorporate new data sources into the data warehouse, expose related attributes and metrics in MicroStrategy, and utilize BI tools to develop reports, visualizations, dashboards, and other solutions that allow data to be analyzed and acted on.
Mentor BI staff in the technical areas mentioned above, formally in structured group settings and informally in one-on-one and small group sessions.
Prompt daily attendance at assigned work location.

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, or computer science and 3-4 years of related experience; or MBA or Master's degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, or computer science and 1-2 years of related experience.
1-2 years of experience using databases and SQL, including schema development, query design, data validation, and automation.
Experience using MicroStrategy or other BI platform.
Experience applying technology to business programs - ability to quantitatively describe problems and engineer solutions.
Strong analytical skills and a clear understanding of data warehouse and business concepts.
Strong written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to build relationships required.
Strong MS Excel and MS Access skills.
Methodical, organized approach to work.
