The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for development, design, administration, support and maintenance of the Cognos platform serving as an enterprise wide Business Intelligence (BI) solution. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure a high performing and highly available solution. Partner with key stakeholders to develop and deliver BI analyses that support critical business decisions. Additional responsibilities include system installation, availability, performance, documentation and development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work closely with functional and technical teams to build, maintain and enhance our analytics environment.
Consult with business areas on matters relating to system connections, security, user accounts, scheduling workloads
Assist users with the publishing of reports, analysis, cubes, and dashboards; establishing processes and guidelines for consistency. Ensure a shared gallery of re-use for queries, charts, graphs, etc.
Administration of Enterprise Analytics and reporting software toolsets.
Install upgrades, configure, tune and maintain all Business Intelligence system components
Translate business requirements into data and aggregation requirements.
Monitor and maintain system performance and provide statistical reporting.
Maintain and respond to service requests for security access and problem resolution.
Provide system support and data testing on projects and enhancements.
Strong understanding of data management and data acquisition from disparate systems.
Ability to clearly articulate the design solutions from the architecture perspective to both technical and nontechnical audiences
Conversant and experienced with various Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
Strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility for the security and reliability of managed areas.
Possess strong problem solving skills and a solid understanding of how to quickly troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues that may involve data, infrastructure, applications, etc.
Demonstrated proficiency with written documentation.
Must be solution oriented, offering possible solutions to problems, not just problems.
Must demonstrate strong management of the quality control process, release management process and version control.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years experience with data analysis, relational modeling, dimensional modeling and design.
3+ years hands-on Cognos administration and development experience along with experience with Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Framework Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in defining exception handling and data cleansing / standardization requirements.
1+ years hands-on experience with TM1 and Multidimensional Online Analytical Processing is preferred
Exposure to multiple database platforms.
Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL).
