The University of Virginia's College at Wise is a four-year, state supported college in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. The University of Virginia's College at Wise seeks an experienced professional with a track record of success as a fundraiser and grant writer to serve as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (C&FR). The successful candidate will bring experience, collegiality, energy, creativity, sensitivity, flexibility, and high follow‚Äźthrough to the effort of securing philanthropic support. The Director of C&FR will be responsible for corporate and foundation relations management, and crafting, packaging and presenting proposals, as well as identifying donor prospects and funding needs for the College. Additionally, the incumbent will support the development team in fundraising and college relations efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful incumbent is able to balance a complex set of responsibilities; Be proficient in working collaboratively with key stakeholders and various College constituents to develop strong relationships; Possess the knowledge of fundraising principles and practices; Adapt readily to changing priorities and needs, and promote collaboration across the College; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, and meet timelines; Possess an entrepreneurial self-starter attitude, and enjoy managing and implementing programs and generating income to support and grow various foundations.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent

Required Experience:
Considerable - 4 to 7 years

Kind of Required Experience:
The successful incumbent will possess four to seven years front-line experience in corporate, foundation, or non-profit fundraising; as well as considerable years of experience in strategic and relationship management with a substanial focus on in-person solicitation, cultivation, and effective stewardship as well as grant writing/proposals, acknowledgements, and other materials for donors.

Required Degree/Training:
A bachelor's degree is required

Required License or Certification:
Valid driver's license

Required Computer Applications:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Kind of Preferred Experience:
Five or more years experience in corporate and foundation fundraising and relationship management, as well as fundraising and proposal writing experience in a college or university setting

Preferred Degree/Training:
A bachelor's or master's degree in English, communications or a business related field such as accounting, marketing, etc... is preferred

Preferred License or Certification:
Preferred Computer Applications:
Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel; Ability to use web for research, and knowledge of development computer systems such as Advance.
