The Business Intelligence Analyst elicits, analyzes, and documents business requirements for the organization’s Information Management Program.
This position schedules, coordinates, and leads requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders at all levels.
This role creates communication strategies, supports project planning efforts, and leads quality assurance activities.
The Business Intelligence Analyst serves as the liaison between the project team and development teams to translate business needs into technical requirements, and they may also serve as a project/team leader for projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and business analysis in support of the information management program.
Prepare accurate and detailed requirement specifications documents, user interface guides, and functional specification documents.
Provide recommendations for solution design and presents findings to project teams.
May serve as project lead for small to medium data integration and management projects.
Ensure delivered IT solutions fully meet the requirements specified by the business. Define, develop, and implement quality assurance practices and procedures; track requirement status throughout the project; coordinate, develop, and execute test strategy and execution plans, including development of integration and end-user acceptance test scripts. Ensure integration and end-user acceptance test scripts verify the fulfillment of all business and functional requirements in the end product. Manage timely identification and resolution of testing issues through effective application of quality assurance practices and procedures.
Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop a thorough understanding of data definitions, domain values, data relationships, business rules, data sources and data integration for each subject area incorporated in the information management program.
Mentor users in their understanding of data specific to their business unit needs and provide
recommendations to ensure data quality and integrity.
Collaborate with team members to establish and document data lineage within data profiling and business glossary programs.
Assist with the design and rollout of the enterprise-wide business intelligence (BI) application.
Educate business units on the different BI applications available to meet the varying needs within the organization and suggest better ways to deliver BI applications where appropriate.
Serve as consultant to business units with respect to BI capabilities provided by internal and external IT solutions or providers.
Conduct or coordinate BI capability demonstrations to users at multiple levels within the organization.
May lead and/or assist with the development of training guides and delivery of end-user training.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance or Business Administration with at least 5 years previous experience with requirements gathering, project planning, and Business Intelligence reporting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Experience with SQL Developer, WebFocus Business Intelligence software (or similar technology such as Cognos, SAP, Tableau, etc.), portal technology, data warehousing, MS Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.

Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers; ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.
Demonstration of excellent written and oral communication skills. This position requires presenting design recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Clarity of ideas and overall understanding is crucial.
Ability to create accurate, professional and error-free documents.
Ability to manage multiple projects while applying project management and organizational skills for task breakdown, planning, and priortization.
