The Business Intelligence Developer - Lead is responsible for development and level 3 support of Medica's Business Intelligence applications and reporting. The Lead is responsible for application and report application/report deployment, level 3 user and system support, coding, unit/system/integration testing, and application stability. The Lead will also have regular contact with business units. Under general supervision, the Lead will work from specifications to develop or modify moderately complex Business Intelligence application and reports. The Lead will assist with design, coding, benchmark testing ,debugging, and documentation of programs. In addition, the Lead will provide work direction and will be responsible in providing mentoring and coaching for junior developers. The Lead Business Intelligence Developer works closely with the Business Intelligence Architect, SMEs, Business Intelligence developers, Business Intelligence Analysts and Data Architects to deliver quality solutions in a timely fashion. Oversight of off-shore developers will also be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with business stakeholders and SME's at all levels of the organization to understand Business Intelligence needs and objectives. Analyze business needs and information requirements. Interact regularly with Business Intelligence Technical Architects, Business Intelligence Analysts and project teams to develop dashboards, highly formatted business reports and Business Intelligence repositories.
Contribute to requirements definition for Business Intelligence applications, reports, dashboards data warehouses and data marts.
Leverage Business Intelligence toolset to deliver best solution to meet business needs in accordance with established Business Intelligence strategy.
Work effectively across various IT project and support teams including project managers and off-shore developers to meet project deliverables.
Provide work direction to team of developers
Determine short and long-term reporting solutions for ad hoc report service requests.
Provide level 3 support for Business Intelligence Applications.
Multi-task across concurrent projects that may include the evaluation of new technologies as required.
Ensure that Business Intelligence application operational support documentation is maintained.
Provide oversight of unit test definition, documentation and execution.
Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
Expected to initiate work with minimal guidance on projects and independently resolve issues with customers.
Qualifications
Bachelors College degree (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent work experience
Specific types of experience required:
7+ years Business Intelligence development using enterprise Business Intelligence software preferably OBIEE
3+ years supervisory or management experience preferred
Advanced SQL skills are necessary
Programming experience in OBIEE or similar Business Intelligence software, SQL preferred
Strong working knowledge across the technology stack including web servers, database servers, portals, networking, security, and server hardware. Technologies currently used and supported in Medica BI are: PL/SQL, Crystal Server, SAS and Oracle products including data base, pre-built BI Analytics Applications; ESSBASE, Oracle Statistical Functions, and OBIEE Repository & Dashboards
Extensive experience in reports and dashboards design and development and functional analysis are required
Strong experience communicating the status to the manager, solving technical problems within the team, effort estimation process and creating a project status report
Experience in client/customer support
Experience in healthcare environment is preferred
Required Certifications/Licensure:
Certification in SQL, OBIEE and/or SAS is a plus

Must be comfortable at interacting and communicating with all levels inside and outside of the IT department
Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of BI applications
Proven record of Business Intelligence project delivery at previous assignments
Proven ability to solve complex business and data problems with limited experience or subject matter expertise
Self motivated, able to work in a team and independently. Should have a high energy level and enjoy working with a variety of personality types
Must have excellent communication, customer service, relationship building, and negotiation skills
Ability to quickly grasp complex problems and able to solve problems rapidly and effectively
