Position Summary
The Business Intelligence Developer is part of a team that is responsible for the design, development, and testing of business intelligence applications supporting reporting, analytics, and decision-making. Activities include requirements gathering; logical design and modeling; and development of cubes, dashboards, and reports.
Job Qualifications
The following are essential in order to perform the job effectively:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience
A minimum of 4 years related experience
Advanced SQL query skills
Experience with BI modeling and report development tools (Cognos preferred)
Understanding of data warehouse concepts
Vision, intiative, and creativity in approaching technical challenges
Strong analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and tenacity; excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to convey complex ideas in a simple way
Ability to build relationships and work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels
Close attention to detail; commitment to accuracy
Desire and ability to share knowledge, both teaching and learning from IT colleagues
The successful candidate must also demonstrate knowledge and strength in some of the following areas:
Logical and multidimensional data modeling
Data warehouse and/or data mart development
SQL development and tuning (PL/SQL preferred)
Data visualization methods and tools
Predictive analytics
MDX
JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks
ETL tools (OWB preferred)
Data virtualization tools (Composite Information Server preferred)
Java
XML
Database administration and performance tuning (Oracle preferred)
