Medivation, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDVN – is a publically traded biopharmaceutical company located in San Francisco. We are, currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Business Intelligence Specialist, Incentive Compensation.

Medivation is focused on the rapid development of novel small molecule drugs to treat serious diseases for which there are limited treatment options. Medivation’s goal is to transform the treatment of these diseases and offer hope to critically ill patients and their families. With the approval of Xtandi (enzalutamide) capsules in late August and the early September product launch immediately following, Medivation is in the process of building and developing a world-class workforce to take the company to the next strategic level.

The Incentive Compensation (IC) BI Specialist’s role is to design and implement 3 rd Party and Internal IC software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This includes working with Sales Operations in selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out IC solutions to end users. The Incentive Compensation Specialist is also responsible for ensuring high levels of IC availability through support functions and in-depth testing.

Job Duties

Essential duties & responsibilities but not limited to the following:
Strategy & Planning
Assist in the development of long-term strategic goals for IC development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders
Assist with developing standards and processes to support and facilitate IC projects and initiatives to incorporate Specialty Pharmacy and Specialty Distribution sales data
Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the IC system

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on IC products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Evaluate and select database/data warehouse components, including hardware, relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management tools and database design solutions
  • Lead and/or support projects in the implementation and use of new 3 rd Party and Internal IC software tools and systems
  • Lead and/or support the integration efforts for merging IC platforms with enterprise systems and applications
  • Design, code, test, and document new or modified IC systems, applications, and programs
  • Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
  • Develop graphs and portal interfaces
  • Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with IC solutions
  • Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for IC front-end applications
  • Work with IT team members, business stake holders and staff to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change, and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion
Operations and Support
  • Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary
  • Troubleshoot 3 rd Party and Internal IC tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary
  • Work diligently to enhance or improve IC business processes
  • Evaluate results of IC projects, then report and make recommendations based on findings
  • Help measure and manage SLAs of the BI solutions
  • Minimum of 5 years direct work experience
  • Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling
  • Experience with tier-one applications, databases, and data warehouses, such MS SQL Server, Crystal, SAP, and so on
  • Expertise in Business Objects tools, such as Scheduler, Designer, Data Integrator, and BO Universe design
  • Demonstrated ability with MS Windows Server 2008 R2, MS SQL 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Report Builder 3.0, etc
  • Demonstrated ability with tools such as ETL, SSIS, SSRS, BIDS, APEX Loader, etc.
  • Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end IC applications according to specifications
  • Knowledge of ZS Assoicates Javelin a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET, Silverlight, OLAP, SQL, etc
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc
  • Working knowledge of networks, PC operating systems and iPads
  • Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Strong understanding of end-user needs and requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, data privacy practices and laws including FDA 21 CFR Part 11, SOX and HIPAA
  • Knowledge of Computer Systems validation
