Advertised Summary Job Description

Reporting to the Director and Assistant Director of the Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability and working closely with other Center staff, the incumbent will be responsible for running the day to day business operations of the center. Basic job functions include processing daily financial transactions, ensuring compliance with University and Earth Institute guidelines; processing accounts payable transactions on the university electronic accounting system (ARC); processing work-study and casual employee timesheets on financial systems; assist with monitoring budgets to avoid overdrafts; assist with reconciling Center and grant accounts; assist with preparing financial reports for grant compliance; managing payroll accounting transfers, journal entries and expenditure corrections, as needed; processing center staff travel and business expense reports and honoraria; and serving as liaison with Accounts Payable as well as with outside vendors. The incumbent will also be responsible for certain HR and office managerial functions including processing hires and appointments of adjunct instructors, overseeing space utilization, ensuring upkeep of center facilities and equipment and related duties and projects as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent and a minimum of 2 years experience

Must have strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Incumbent should be able to multi-task, and feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information is essential. Must have strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of University systems is a plus or experience with online accounting software.
