Job Description: Business Objects Developer

The Business Objects Developer (Mid-Level) responsible for performing analysis, modification, documentation and support of daily operations for the ERP system and other applications. They will work closely with business unit members to understand business requirements and ensure that application systems properly function to meet business needs, delivering value across the organization. The position will consult with end users to identify current operation procedures, clarify program objectives, evaluate business requirements and implement innovative solutions in a fast paced team-oriented environment. This position includes designing, coding, modifying, testing, debugging, documenting, installing, and deploying application systems. Ability to work independently or in conjunction with other programmers.

Responsibilities Include:

- Develop, test, document, implement, and maintain Enterprise and Customized applications for departmental initiatives

- Troubleshoot, support and maintain critical information systems. Analyze and identify time-sensitive system problems that could have an impact on business operations

- Analyze existing processes and identify dependencies and potential break points, and recommend and implement improved technical solutions

- Partner with internal customers to understand requirements in business terms and translate those requirements into technical solutions. This includes developing new capabilities as well as break fix

- Convert project specs into sequence of detailed instructions & logical steps for coding in a computer processing language; applying knowledge of computer programming techniques / computer languages

- Analyze, review, and alter program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements

- Document program development, logic, coding, and corrections

- Write functional specifications

- Develop installation and operating procedures manual

- May use computer-aided software tools in each stage of system development

- Oversee hardware / software installation; provide technical assistance to program users

- Plan, develop, and test document programs applying knowledge of programming techniques / computer systems

- Evaluate user requests for new / modified programs

- Outline steps required to develop programs using standard development methodologies

- Capture requirements using development frameworks / tools

- Assist in solving operating problems

- Install and test program; monitor program performance after implementation

Essential Skills Required

- Bachelor's Degree

- 2 to 5 Years of Full SDLC Business Analysis Experience

- Proficient in Business Objects

o Experience with Business Objects suite of applications, designing and developing Business Objects Universes, Reports and Dashboards

o Design, develop, and implement ETL jobs using Business Objects utilities (Data Integrator / Data Services)

o Experience working with Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.0

o Experience working with Crystal Reports XI

- Experience with Oracle or MS SQL Server

DESIRED SKILLS REQUIRED

- Knowledge of system life cycle / application development alternatives

- High aptitude for complex problem analysis / resolution

- Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively present to target audience

- Ability to effectively work with all levels of personnel within the organization

- Detail-orientated; uses sound judgment; and is self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks

- Very good organization and time management skills

Hardware/Software Packages

- Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio, Share Point, MS Project

- Experience with Oracle or MS SQL Server

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's Degree

- 5+ Years Programming Experience
