Overview: Management Science Associates, Inc. We are currently seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to participate in the product and project lifecycle taking them from conception to implementation. The successful candidate must have knowledge and experience with creating detailed project documentation, i.e. project initiation, business requirements, use cases, test cases, modeling, metrics, maturity models, etc. This position will provide vision, leadership and strategy as well as actively participate in the design, implementation and subsequent operations.


Interacts with user community to understand and document processes

Conducts business process and system analysis and modeling

Present current process vs. recommended processes along with value/ROI expectations

Identify repeatable process opportunities across support teams and document shared best practices

Works independently with users to develop business requirements, functional specification requirements; writes specifications; develops use cases and test plans, conducts tests, configures system

Participates in gap analysis and resolution (which is defining those processes that cannot be exactly mapped into the software and evaluating optional solutions such as software modification or combined work-arounds to resolve the differences

Identifies business policy issues and inefficiencies in the structuring of business processes

Assists users in defining and writing both documentation and reporting requirement

Model prototype solutions for potential automation recommendations

Responds to user requests for information by defining requirements, performing queries, and assisting in writing more complex specifications

Assist in implementation plan and execution of the best practices

Required Skills

Requires a four-year degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Math, Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent experience. Related post-graduate degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.

Minimum two years’ related experience performing business systems analysis or equivalent

Advanced understanding of the processes and environments of business functions and databases

Analytical ability adequate to perform business modeling techniques

Ability to relate to clients and various types of users to learn new business processes

Ability to breakdown and document user tasks into understandable and repeatable processes

Ability to provide process and automation improvements

Ability to breakdown costs and validate recommended improvements
