The Business Process Analyst (BPA) works directly with Business Process Owners and is responsible for developing and maintaining process artifacts to include: process maps, business requirements, data models and process performance metrics. The BPA serves as the lead analyst responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and system requirements related to business processes as assigned by the Business Process Owner. The BPA will work with the Business Process Owner to develop plans for process assessments and improvements, and will monitor process performance metrics to ensure assigned processes are operating as expected.

Job Responsibilities

Document assigned processes
  • Document processes
    • Produce process documentation at various levels of the process model hierarchy
    • Maintain all process documentation to ensure that it is up-to-date
    • Maintain all process supporting documentation (e.g. business rules, data models, policies, standards, etc.)
    • Work with Business Process Owners to ensure inputs and outputs map correctly across related processes
Assist in the development of process improvement initiatives
  • Validate the merit and applicability of process improvement initiatives and work with the Business Process Owner to develop a rollout plan

Monitor process performance
  • Review process performance metrics and intervene accordingly
  • Identify performance gaps and work with the Business Process Owner to launch remedial initiatives

Participate in the software development cycle
  • Participate in the project process assisting in the development of process-related functional requirements
  • Develop use cases and test cases to validate process changes during the software testing process
  • Perform user acceptance testing and work with Business Process Owner to evaluate results

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of Operations experience
  • 1+ years of business analysis experience (e.g. creating ‘as-is’ process documentation using BPMN or similar notation methodology, capturing business rules and modeling data)
  • Advanced level proficiency with Visio, Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of relational database concepts
  • Experience with SQL preferred (e.g. ability to write moderately-complex queries and to interpret stored procedures)
  • Experience with writing software requirements preferred
