Serve as a Program and Project Manager for Research and Development as well as serve as liaison between the P/C Research and Development and IT to ensure the delivery of products and services.
Participate in regular meetings to keep both P/C Research and Development and IT staff informed of productivity objectives, goals and concerns and serve as key liaison between P/C Research and Development and IT to interpret and analyze complex business problems.
Develop and manage the business aspect of high risk, highly complex Research and Development projects and budget and implement solutions.
Lead the formulation/definition of business scope, objectives, requirements and deliverables and perform first level sign-off and communication of these deliverables, based on system development methodologies.
Identify business systems problems, determine level of urgency, work with technical team and communicate to the business issues/status/resolution.
Participate in projects by taking the lead in operational, unplanned and special projects’ proposals, justification, project management design, development, testing and delivery phases.
Assist P/C Research and Development management with resource allocation, reporting, training goals and budgeting.
Partner with software/hardware vendors to assist in recognizing possible business solutions. Set priorities that are in line with business goals.
Facilitate business departmental process improvement workshops and internal provide business workflow training and documentation expertise.
Keep abreast of current technologies and assist the business with prioritization of maintenance and projects ensuring that the initiative with the greatest benefit/risk will be worked on first.
College degree or equivalent plus six years relevant experience required. Good analytical/conceptual thinking skills, technical systems knowledge, and problem solving skills are required. Must have a good customer service orientation, impact and influence, industry awareness, initiative, integrity, people savvy, relationship management and self-confidence skills. Must have or attain a strong understanding of all entities of the FBL Financial Group. Must understand the inter-relationship between business and technology needs. Working knowledge of multiple IT platforms. Knowledge of company adopted standards and a familiarity of current application development.
