This position assists counselors and performs services for consumers in a 5 county area, consisting of Anson, Richmond, Moore, Montgomery and Hoke counties. The job will be located in Pinehurst. The successful applicant assists with the placement of eligible consumers in compatible and competitive employment that is consistent with their interests and abilities. The incumbent works closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals for consumers and identify the availability of similar positions in the community. Other duties include: teaching employment marketing classes to job-ready consumers; providing written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers’ efforts to obtain employment; coordinating in-school work adjustment programs; meeting with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and to obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers. The selected candidate may also participate in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and its consumers as well as represent the work unit on boards/committees as designated by the Unit Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Excellent communication skills to foster effective interaction with individuals of all socio-economic and intellectual/educational levels. Demonstrated initiative, sales and marketing skills including the willingness to make employer cold calls and to follow-through with pre-arranged appointments. Thorough understanding of the local and regional job markets. Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including Word and Excel. Working knowledge of VR policies and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution; associate s degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience; graduation from high school and four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
