Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Business Relationship Manager will act as an internal consultant that has responsibility for investigating business systems, identifying options for improving business systems and bridging the needs of the business with IT. This position will be a liaison between every business unit and IT tasked with understanding the company's structure, policies, and operations focused on maximizing IT's investment in time, resources, and dollars
Responsibilities:
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams
  • Demonstrable business facing success as technical resource
  • Translate business requests into actionable technical requirements
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions and analyses, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, deconstruct high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional Requirements, Business Requirements Documents, etc.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers
  • Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant real world experience
  • 5+ years direct experience managing contracts, vendors, consultant, and recommending appropriate changes
  • 3-5 years of direct interaction with Senior Leadership Team preparing technology strategy and options to senior business leaders
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Familiarity with AS400/iSeries environment, Windows based servers, Microsoft SQL
  • ERP experience or Transportation/Logistics background is preferred
  • Strong leadership qualities including self-awareness, integrity, vision, focus, energy, ability to listen, ability to collaborate, sense of humor and humility
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines from conception through execution
  • Ability to function in a Microsoft SQL environment
    • highly preferred
  • Ability to make technical issues clear to the non-technical person
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
