Metro Transit is the primary transit service, provider for bus, light rail and commuter rail in the twin cities metropolitan area, providing 95 percent of the 76 million rides annually in the twin cities. We are one of the country's largest transit systems, Each weekday customers board Metro Transit buses and trains an average of 240,000 times. Metro Transit has a fleet of 800 buses. The Hiawatha light rail division consists of a fleet of 27 light-rail cars and operates on 12 miles of track, serving 19 stations from downtown Minneapolis to the Mall of America. The Northstar Commuter Rail operates on 40 miles of track, and stops at 6 stations from downtown Minneapolis to Big Lake.
We are hiring for a Business Systems Analyst 1 to provide data quality support and analysis for TCC Transit Technology systems and applications. Data quality responsibilities include TransitMaster geo-code support, bus annunciator announcemment management/ configuration, TransitMaster waiver support, and TCC MetNet/ Sharepoint site content management. Position will assist the Manager of Technology Systems and Assistant Manager of Technology Systems in system documentation, data analysis, report writing and data quality coordination with other agencies, departments, and projects.
Examples of Duties:
Uses TransitMaster tools, such as, TM_Survey and TM_Route Manager, plus internal network tools, such as, spreadsheets, lists, and corespondence, to survey (in field or in office), provide data management/ tracking, and issue troubleshooting for geo-code data support for the TransitMaster system.
Create/ test text-to-voice messages, assign these messages.
Track/ monitor detours, bus stop closures, and other service changes on an ongoing basis and use this information to input, delete. And modify TransitMaster waivers. Use TM_Planner to manage these waivers within the TransitMaster system on an ongoing basis.
Manage the TCC Technology Systems data content on an ongoing basis for the TCC MetNet/ Sharepoint site involving posting, modifying, deleting content, providing data/ document links, making Sharepoint site and document modifications., etc.
Make decisions on interval distances, arrival/ departure zones, and where bus stops are placed with the TransitMaster system.
Make decisions on how to track all geo-coding changes made in TMRoute Manager in Service Changes folder on shared network.
Act as management representative for Transit Technology Systems data quality at internal/external Meetings/Forums and other committees.
Education/Experience: Associate’s degree or a two-year college or technical school certification or degree in Computer Science, and 3 years of related experience.
Equivalency: Additional years of progressively responsible experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Desired: Lead/management experience of a team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skilled in interpersonal and leadership skills to analyze and resolve complex management challenges.
Skilled in understanding and use of technology including, personal computer, software programs, and data management.
Ability to work effectively in a “real time” operations and technical support environment; reach sound decisions in deployment of resources and problem resolution under pressure of conflicting priorities and in emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally; facilitate group meetings and present information clearly.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or clients.
Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
