Responsible for all general accounting functions for Borden Dairy’s Branded division. Enforce accounting procedures and internal controls for the Branded division.
Supervise business unit accounting team.
Responsible for general ledger accounts and understanding their business purpose in order to suggest new accounting procedures and recommend improvements. Approve general ledger account reconciliations and be able to communicate and “tell the story” of the balance on the account in a “non-accounting” manner.
Review and approve journal entries as well as provide guidance on cost center line item analysis for accuracy and reasonableness. Understand what makes up the numbers. Approval of journal entries include but are not limited to accruals, amortizations and intercompany charges.
Responsible for fixed asset additions, disposals, depreciation and fixed asset schedules.
Support financial reporting, tax, and audit.
Participate and provide ideas that focus on process improvement, eliminate non-value added transactions, etc.
Develop and prepare financial and managerial accounting information such as accounts receivable analysis, fixed asset spending, etc.
Assist with internal and external audit requests.
Measure and benchmark financial performance and working capital metrics to management.
Satisfy analysis and ad hoc reporting requests.
Work in partnership with the other business unit accounting managers and shared service center managers to ensure timely and accurate period end ledger close.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Professional certification: CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Experience: Must have 2+ years experience in similar accounting management role
Technical knowledge: Highly analytical. Superior working knowledge of Excel.
Behavioral: Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and in teams. Collaborative. Self starter. Career minded.
Communication: Ability to understand accounting jargon and translate in plain English.
