Job Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator provides administrative support to the Senior Director of Development, Associate Director of Development, and the Dean of the College of Business Administration. This position is responsible for carrying out all clerical operations and assisting in accomplishing the fundraising and administrative objectives of the development team and their goals. This position requires significant independent action and decision making, working with sensitive and confidential information, and coordination and participation (as needed) in donor stewardship and cultivation events. Successful completion of a background check is required prior to hire.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment. Experience planning events, coordinating travel arrangements, managing calendars, and assisting with budgets, including payments and reimbursements. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to keep complex records and files. Ability to interpret biographical, corporate and foundation information. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions and problem solve. Ability to effectively write and present own reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience managing projects in a thorough and goal-oriented manner in self-directed and team environments. Ability to reschedule and distribute work assignments based on shifting priorities. Ability to accurately perform routine tasks and learn quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to format, independently initiate, compose and draft clear and concise final form memoranda and correspondence while utilizing excellent proofreading skills.

Preferred Education/Certifications

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Experience/Special Skills

Experience with Advance (database). Ability to type at a corrected rate of 50 words per minute. Experience working in higher education. Experience interpreting biographical, corporate and foundation information. Possess relevant experience in the area of resource development, donor relations, research and comprehensive campaigns with a nonprofit organization in higher education. Experience in maintaining tracking systems to ensure and assist in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. A high degree of interest in, and commitment to, higher education and philanthropy is essential. Experience in preparing documents for reimbursement (travel, conference, hosting, etc.). Knowledge of campus methods, procedures and practices.

Working Conditions

Inside working environment. Ability and availability to attend events or perform duties outside of normal work hours (may include weekends). Must have the ability to travel and attend off-campus appointments and events.
