Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the procurement, planning, sourcing and manufacturing requirements for Aquion Energy. The organization is focused on developing supply chain strategies, driving globalization of sourced products, and reducing cost through various sourcing and materials cost reduction strategies.

The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality and suppliers to analyze materials consumption and stocking levels in support of the production plan and inventory targets. Determines appropriate inventory levels, maintains master data and determines timing for placing purchase orders.

Analyze MRP data to ensure appropriate stocking levels are achieved.

Maintain all master data within MRP and purchasing system.

Works with Director of Supply Chain to determine appropriate inventory levels, taking into account cost, storage, vendor, quality, usage rate, and lead-time considerations. Monitor inventory levels, communicate variances and adjust accordingly.

Generate a “buy” plan, which includes all materials required to support the production plan.

Participate in the continuous improvement of the MRP system, planning, purchasing and warehouse applications. Participate in gap analysis, development of business processes, training and documentation.

Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, support manufacturing operations, and negotiate contracts and supply agreements for assigned commodities & services in collaboration with other functional business departments.

Ensure suppliers meet minimum established quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements by initiating appropriate action when supplier quality or compliance deficiencies are identified.

Continuously improve the performance of the materials supply base by supporting the use of supplier management tools such as the supplier report card and commercial business reviews.

Be the primary point of contact for raw material suppliers

Execute purchase orders to support the manufacturing build plan.

Forecast supply vulnerabilities and implement plans to insure continuity of supply.

Manage commercial relationships to ensure reliable supply and appropriate resolution of any disputes that arise related to supply.

Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.

Key Competencies required:
Demonstrated experience working with all functional areas and suppliers to ensure the on-time delivery of materials/services to end users with the lowest total cost of ownership.

Demonstrated skills in negotiation, time management, conflict resolution, project management and organization.

Organizational Agility, Process Management, Planning Accurately, Knowledge of procurement contracts and related laws.

Solid understanding of analytical measurement tools as well as an understanding of accounting and financial analysis

ERP experience helpful. Demonstrated experience with integrated Purchasing Systems (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, etc); and demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office applications.

5+ years experience in operations and/or procurement including a proven track record of managing direct materials and services at an enterprise level

Strong sourcing, negotiation, and contracting skills with demonstrated success in managing complex supplier relationships

Solid project management experience with the ability to develop strong support for change

Experience managing supplier productivity and working with suppliers for value creation

High level of diplomacy and a demonstrated comfort interacting with people at all levels within the company and external supplier organizations

Experience managing agreement implementations in a complex environment

Robust problem solving and analytical skills backed by solid computer skills (spreadsheets, word processing, internet, etc.)

Self-driven, results-oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision

Strong written/oral communication skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS degree in a business, technical, or related area preferred; or, 2-year degree in a business technical or related area with 3 years direct experience; or, 5-8 years with direct experience in a materials function.

Previous purchasing/planning experience a must.

Good understanding of materials management and purchasing concepts.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
At least 5 years experience in purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, or relevant technical/analytical discipline.

Superior analytical skills are required to develop cost savings proposals.

Ability to work with others/function as part of a team and maintains good working relationships with other departments; customer oriented.

Ability to function well under pressure. Organized and able to attain results on several projects simultaneously.

Willingness and ability to assume increased responsibility.

Flexible to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.

Action/results oriented; self-starter.

Dedicated and willing to expend effort to meet schedules and deadlines.

Language Skills: Must be fluent in English and be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Certificates/Licenses: CPIM designation desired

Physical Demands:
Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting for extended period of time, standing and walking.

Requires good listening, writing and communications skills.

Position Location: Initially located at 39 th Street, Pittsburgh facility and will transition within a few months to Mount Pleasant, PA factory.

Travel Requirement: 5-10%
