Purchases a variety of materials and services to support business units in a center-led organization. This position works to coordinate and streamline the purchasing process through interaction with the internal business owner, vendors and other internal departments as needed. Works under direct supervision of the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Consultant – Team Lead. to assist the Strategic Sourcing department in the achievement of company objectives.

Facilitate purchases for materials and/or services by balancing considerations of price, quality, service, delivery, payment terms, and commercial situations. Negotiate price and terms with suppliers for best overall value.

Apply approved legal templates to facilitate contract creation.

Assist internal business owner’s and vendor managers with RFX creation, supplier selection, and contract completion.

Qualify new suppliers; seek out business relationships with diverse suppliers.

Issue and track purchase orders for company purchases for the materials and services under his/her jurisdiction. Identify cost savings solutions.

Streamline procure-to-pay process; troubleshoot Lawson system issues and collaborate with Accounts Payable.

Select suppliers, place orders based on scheduled requirements, monitor quality and delivery, and ensure accuracy of payment.

Evaluate all elements of cost in procurement transactions of assigned commodities for maximum cost improvement.

Maintain a general knowledge of technical requirements involved with assigned commodity responsibility. Ensure requirements are fully understood by suppliers.

Support departmental continuous improvement efforts to streamline the Lawson contracting process.

Provide guidance and training to contract and PO requestors with the Lawson system.

Prepare and facilitate requests for proposals.

Act as program coordinator for master purchase agreements with key suppliers under his/her assigned commodities.

Select suppliers, place orders based on scheduled requirements, monitor quality and delivery, and assure accuracy of payment.

Perform research and interpret industry conditions which may have an affect on cost and lead time.

Acquire a broad knowledge of supplier qualifications encompassing such items as sales and distribution policies, procedures, research and development support in order to ensure desired quality and delivery of assigned commodities.

Evaluate all elements of cost in procurement transactions of assigned commodities for maximum cost improvement.

Maintain a general knowledge of technical requirements involved with assigned commodity responsibility. Ensure requirements are fully understood by suppliers. Requirements • High school diploma/GED and 5 years experience in purchasing, contracts and/or supply management OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience in purchasing, contracts and/or supply management Additional Critical Skills & Knowledge Needed for Job • Bachelor’s degree
  • Moderate skill in use of computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Experience using Lawson Financials desired
  • Required to be able to prioritize work in a dynamic environment

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
