Position Summary:
The Buyer position is responsible for assigned procurement related activities for the company in obtaining materials, services and equipment. Gather quotations, examine bids, and makes awards. Determines material requirements and maintains inventory at planned levels. Evaluates vendor reliability, helps develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors cost, schedules, and scope of assigned commodities or contracts to assure best quality at best value. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises, good judgment within generally defined practices and policies when selecting methods for acquiring solutions. Supports strategic sourcing activities, including supplier consolidation and cost and inventory reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and approve purchases, negotiate contracts, pricing and service level agreements.

Assure that POs are entered and updated within MRP system in an accurate and timely manner, all order information is complete, and Dako’s requirements are clearly defined.

Monitor cost, schedule and performance of suppliers.

Works with local site management to set raw material inventory targets, develop strategy and detail plans to ensure business achieves the committed goals

Helps put programs & standard processes in place to mitigate supply risk

Performs analysis supporting decisions regarding supplier and materials selection in new product development/introduction process

Analyzes material cost impact on the business and develops appropriate response

Participates in every aspect of supply chain management to maintain a reliable and cost competitive source of supply

Creates, implements and manages effective cost tracking systems and controls

Assist accounting with variance analysis as needed.

Maintain purchasing files.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Requires a BA/BS in Business or related discipline

3-5 years of Buyer experience

Strong ability to read and understand MRP, MRP reports, stock status reports, material variance reports, assembly and machining load reports, and customer order shortage report

Excellent communication skills

Excellent project management skills, understands impact to business

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to find improvement opportunities, and to evoke change on their own

Ability to interface across various levels (analysts, managers, directors, general manager), across Dako.

Able to work well under internal and external pressures in a fast-paced work environment

Exposure to Lean methodologies

Demonstrated experience with advanced features in Excel (i.e., Pivot tables, V-look ups, etc), Word and Power Point fluent

APICS and/or CPIM certified (preferred)

Open to approximately 10% travel
