Job Description: Responsible for the repair and maintenance of outside plant cables and restoring service due to any type of cable failure. Major responsibilities involve work associated with Outside Plant facilities i.e., copper, fiber, FTTC and pair gain technology.
Candidates must have:
Three (3) years experience in cable repair and maintenance with experience in POTS and CLEC , ADSL and remote DSL installations, FTTC provisioning and maintenance, and troubleshooting special circuits up to DS1 level.
Good physical condition and be able to handle heavy ladders and other heavy loads. Ability to set up of ladders and aerial platforms. Ability to distinguish colors. Ability to safely lift a minimum of 80 lbs. Ability to work in confined spaces such as man holes and crawl spaces.
Must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive standard and automatic shift vehicles.
Pole Climbing Certification and/or ability to pass Pole Ladder Assessment.
Must possess customer relations skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
A technical aptitude for computer applications; ability to utilize computer for online transactions and electronic time entry
Experience with various test equipment such as 3M 965DSP, Acterna HST 3000, and 3M MS2 splicing equipment or comparable.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, various assigned shifts and overtime as required.
General experience with and knowledge of cable splicing.
Experience with reading work prints and schematics
