Provides computer-aided drafting services for exterior cladding systems, storefronts, and wall systems by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings for production of shop drawings.
Utilizes computer aided drafting skills and knowledge of curtainwall components to assist in the development of engineering documents.
Assists Designers in the preparation of proposal drawings in AutoCad, including 3D AutoCad.
Assists Engineering Department in the maintenance of engineering software including, Die Database, and AutoCad menus.
Sets up and produces drawings that are dimensionally accurate and according to scale.
Sets up and produces small shop and fabrication drawings according to Harmon standards.
Lays out and aligns viewport details logically and clearly on drawings.
References parts from other CAD drawings.
Produces a bill of materials on frame-unit drawings.
Makes location tag marks on shop and/or frame unit drawings.
Maintains a paper file of project documents and RFI logs.
Communicates and/or makes suggestions to Project Manager that will improve and/or simplify the drafting and design process.
Reviews shop drawings from outside engineering vendors and makes corrections if needed.
Works with outside engineering vendors to ensure deadlines are met on drawings and submittals.
Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree (A.A.) from a two year technical or community college in architectural drafting or a related field; or one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Construction industry experience preferred.
Ability to write clear, concise, readable notes and other correspondence. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally over the telephone. Ability to use industry language and terms appropriately and correctly.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Skilled in CAD technologies. Understanding of the types of commercial glazing; qualities and uses of glass products; and standards associated with product fabrication.
