Mobile Recreation is a collaborative effort between the City of Fort Worth and Fort Worth ISD. Camp is held at four schools and adjacent parks located on the Southside of Fort Worth. Mobile Recreation Leaders work a seven (7) week summer camp program. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
Camp Fort Worth is a 10-week summer camp program located in 19 community centers throughout the City. Hours vary from 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
Hiring Fairs will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at Greenbriar Community Center, 5200 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, TX 76115 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 23, 2013 at R. D. Evans Community Center, 3242 Lackland Road, Fort Worth, 76116 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Camp Fort Worth is a great place to make a positive impact through character development, literacy programs, arts and crafts, team building, recreational activities and a healthy lifestyle. Recreation Leaders have the responsibility over an assigned group, ensuring the well-being of children ages 5-13.
Skills / Requirements
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
Recreation Leaders must be age 18 or older (17 if a high school graduate) and a High School Diploma or GED is required. They must possess 300 hours training and/or work experience with children leading activities in a recreational and/or educational environment. Relevant, completed college hours are preferred but not mandatory. First Aid and CPR certifications are required (training provided). Bilingual skills, Spanish/English, are preferred. Recreation Leaders must possess a working knowledge of a wide variety of indoor/outdoor activities and initiative games.
Attendance at Orientation is required and will be held one week prior to camp. Must commit to work either entire 7-week or 10-week program.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with parents, children and other staff and team members. Assist with swimming trips in which Recreation Leaders are required to be in the water with children at all times, work outdoors and lead activities; Have a positive and energetic attitude; maintain cleanliness and order of the facilities; Assist with lunch and snack distribution, serving and clean up, following Summer Lunch Program guidelines; Supervise field trips; Maintain discipline; Issue and collect recreation equipment and games; Follow weekly lesson plans, submit attendance records, incident reports and schedules; Become thoroughly familiar with all camp policies including the Standards of Care; Fully participate in activities with the children.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS: WORKING CONDITIONS
Inside and outside recreational environment; working closely with others; exposure to noise, solvents, chlorine and toxic chemicals related to custodial and maintenance responsibilities.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; lifting or carrying light to moderate objects; pushing and pulling; operating custodial and maintenance equipment; adequate speech, hearing, and eyesight required.
