The Career Center at East Carolina University supports and empowers students in their career development to succeed as professional in a global community. The Career Center provides students with career development tools that assist them to become professionals. The department develops academic and co-curricular programs and services to enhance career readiness, leadership and engagement.

The Career Counselor will provide career counseling services and related programs for students and alumni in a variety of fields. Through counseling appointments and brief consultations, the counselor will support students with guidance and information regarding career decision-making, career options, goal setting, career research, the job search process, and applying to graduate/professional school. The Career Counselor will serve as the primary professional to work with graduate students, undecided majors and other unique targeted student populations. The Counselor will plan and deliver career programming (such as employer/alumni panels and networking events). The Counselor will assist or coordinate with other department team members various career fairs and events. The Counselor will consult with employers regarding optimal marketing strategies to reach students and to collaborate on events and programs.

The Career Counselor will serve as the primary coordinator to develop and implement a Career Peer program to assist students with the career development process.

The position will report directly to the Director of the Career Center.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Master's degree in career development, counseling, student personnel administration or related field or equivalent experience. Potential candidates must have demonstrated experience counseling students/clients involving career and employment issues; knowledge of career development issues. Candidates should have strong knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources. The ability to interact with a diverse student and staff population is essential. Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, academic personnel, employers and alumni. Experience and proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to deliver career services.
Excellent writing, presentation, and organizational skills
