This position is in the Consultative Examination Control (CEC) Unit of DDS and is responsible for supervising, training and providing oversight to staff who schedule and check in medical appointment requests for disability examiners. The CEC Supervisor is responsible for interviewing and hiring staff, evaluating performance , establishing priorities, organizing resources, and coordinating and monitoring the workflow of the unit. This position maintains the scheduling calendars and resolves problems/issues associated with the scheduling and check in of consultative examination appointments and payment issues; explains the consultative process and related procedures; monitors and tracks scheduling and check in activity; responds to inquiries from medical facilities and interoffice agency staff to include management, Professional Relations Unit & DHHS Accounting; and oversees the duties of the support staff assigned to the unit. The CEC Supervisor serves as the principle contact for the unit , and provides assistance and information for all CEC activities related to the Social Security disability process. This position is required to act in the full range of supervisory functions for this unit.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
The CEC Supervisor must possess extensive program knowledge of the DDS electronic scheduling and check-in processes for the Social Security disability program, with experience using medical terminology and CPT codes. This position must be knowledgeable of laws, departmental rules and regulations covering the disability programs and services, with the ability to independently review, plan, prioritize and organize processing procedures to direct the workflow of the unit. The CEC Supervisor is required to possess exceptional oral and written communication skills to provide effective customer service, as there is extensive public contact with a diverse group of individuals and entities. The CEC Supervisor must be able to successfully interact with a variety of individuals to interpret and explain technical SSA program policies, procedures and processes, and resolve problems related to consultative examinations. As the CEC Supervisor, this position must possess the ability to train and effectively manage subordinates; have demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities; the ability to work independently and be flexible and adjust to sudden changes. This position requires personal computer skills with proficient data entry skills and knowledge of database applications and spreadsheet design.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least four years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and two years of experience as described above; or graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with courses in business administration or a related field with demonstrated skills in the assigned area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
