The position is located in the Food and Environmental Toxicology Laboratory in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department. This full time chemist position is responsible for residue analysis on food samples for the USDA sponsored Interregional Project No. 4 (IR-4), entitled “A National Agricultural Program to Clear Pest Control Agents for Minor Uses”.
Job functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Evaluate and modify, if necessary, EPA approved analytical methods for residue analysis.
Conduct residue sample analysis by gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography.
Operate computer based automated data collection system
Perform maintenance, calibration, and any necessary trouble shooting of instruments.
Document research activities in compliance with EPA’s Good Laboratory Practices.
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
