CIO Middle Office Associate
JPMorgan Chase & Co is a global financial institution comprising of seven main businesses - Investment Bank, Retail Financial Services, Card Services, Commercial Banking, Treasury & Security Services, Asset Management and Corporate. The Chief Investment Office (CIO) is a division within Corporate and manages the structural risk of JPM Chase across a wide range of asset classes. CIO is mainly located in the major hubs - New York, London and Hong Kong and manages its own infrastructure including Market Risk, Middle Office, Finance and Technology.
Working in a combined P&L and Risk function within the Middle Office supporting CIO's cross-asset class business in North America, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely reporting to the desk, market risk and to senior management. In addition to reconciling, validating and building processes in an ever evolving and highly controlled environment.
•Calculating, agreeing and reconciling traders P/L estimates to the actual results, explaining variances to FO
•Ownership of P&L front-to-back; from trader estimate through to month end reconciliation.
•Responding to various ad-hoc information requests by other functions, such as Market Risk, Valuation Control Group (VCG), CFO / Business Managers.
•Participate in ad-hoc projects across accounting, controls and system-related initiatives
•Assist in reporting and testing for the Liquidity Risk Infrastructure initiative
•Driving synchronization of P&L and technology engagement in the delivery of change and enhancements
•Building and maintaining strong business, operations and technology relationships
•Attention to detail and numerate with a methodical approach to problem solving
•Ability to quickly understand a complex matrix of operating systems and their inter-relationships and dependencies
•Strong knowledge of accounting for securities derivatives and an interest in understanding of financial markets at a granular level
•Understanding of Fixed Income markets and products
•General understanding and experience in financial accounting and finance
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently communicate effectively with any audience
•Strength in collaborating with multiple teams across many functions and regions
•Recognition of the business' and team's requirements and the willingness to step outside of a strict job description (understanding the 'bigger' picture)
•Strong time management and multi-tasking skills as reasonable flexibility is required for the role
•Proficiency in MS Excel, preferably with some macro or Visual Basic knowledge, and experience with MS Access/PowerPoint.
Experience / Education Required
•Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
•Business Analyst or Associate level experience within Product Control, Finance, MO or Market Risk
•Relevant product knowledge of CIO's asset classes
•Strong industry and operational knowledge
•Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
•Proven track record of presentation preparation and delivering communication to management
