Our financial client is looking to recruit a Chief Information Officer to lead their technology function. The technology organization partners with businesses and functional areas to support and enable their respective strategies. It does so by professionally managing core technology and operations infrastructure, and also by providing strategic change management and risk control and mitigation capabilities. At the heart of the organization is a focus on client / customer, and a spirit of innovation. This person will bring leadership, vision, and further instill a culture of continual improvement in the technology organization.
Despite the challenges that the financial industry has experienced, our client has continued to outperform its competitors. They believe that there are always opportunities for improvement and that information technology is a key lever in realizing these opportunities. As such, this person will be asked to assess their current IT environment, and formulate a future vision with regard to efficiency, cost, competitive advantage, service levels and the financial implications of achieving that vision.
The position requires an exceptionally accomplished and business-oriented technology professional with a record of successfully leading people, aligning processes and technology in the pursuit of strategic business outcomes. The successful candidate will have significant experience with Financial Services and is most likely now Chief Information officer, senior level functional IT leader or division Chief Information Officer of another publicly traded financial services company. With excellent leadership skills and followership, this person will have a strong, pragmatic approach to leading technology, with a proven record in IT strategy planning and delivery. Additionally, he/she must also be able to lead strategy development in technology, as well as identify common synergies to drive competitive advantages and IT efficiencies. In keeping with their culture, this executive must be a hands-on, dynamic leader whose track record buys immediate credibility across a diverse business. Just as importantly, this person must be the consummate communicator, able to influence and build meaningful relationships outside of the IT function and across all levels of the enterprise.
Given the increasing presence of vendors and outsourcing partners in the back and middle offices of the banking industry, it is imperative that the CIO have relevant experience, selecting, managing and working productively towards desired objectives with service providers.
Key requirements include: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and people management skills that ensure transparency Considerable executive presence as well as excellent interpersonal, people development, and communication skills are essential. Proven ability and affinity for building value-added relationships with the leaders of the business, and be able to serve as an outstanding technology strategist. Experience in advising, counseling and working with the executive team and other stakeholders. Deep understanding of the financial services industry and have a strong appreciation for the complexities and constraints specific to the regulatory structure. Experience addressing a wide variety of technology issues in an innovative manner. Experience in M&A with a proven track record of successful integrations. Strong work ethic.
