Chief Information Officer
The Chief Information Officer will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. The CIO will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs, manage complex issues within area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. This role has overall responsibility to define, and implement the IT strategy for the company.
Accountabilities of the CIO:
Develops strategic plans identifying Information Technology applications to support business plans or create new strategic options.
Plans and controls staffing and development, organization, hardware acquisitions and facilities for the information systems department to assure that they are consistent with and supportive of the business plans of the Company.
Directs the design, development and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software to meet the needs of the Company.
Administers and controls the information systems expense budget to contribute to a cost effective operation.
Maintains knowledge of developments in the area of systems and hardware to assure that new developments are incorporated in future systems of the Company.
Duties and Responsibilities of the CIO:
A primary function of this position is the identification and presentation of hardware and software to ensure that computer capabilities are responsive to the needs of corporate growth and changing corporate objectives. A continuing liaison must also be maintained with management of functional departments on data processing matters in order to answer all questions, evaluate needs, monitor service, advise on problems, encourage data processing education and understanding, and ensure smooth conversion from manual to computerized systems, or from existing computer systems to new improved ones.
Close contact must be maintained with representatives of firms providing data processing hardware, software and support service.
Keep abreast of state-of-the-art developments through attendance at trade and professional meetings and seminars, trade shows, perusal of the literature, and use of supplementary educational activities.
Supervise information systems department personnel, including specialists in; systems analysis, programmers, operations specialist.
Responsible for advising and effectively guiding senior management as to information security matters.
Experience with business system continuity planning, auditing and risk management as it relates to information security. In-depth knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations. Substantial experience and understanding in data auditing processes and methods, cyber-security principles such as CIA (confidentiality, integrity & availability), encryption (including symmetric and asymmetric keys), digital signatures, ports, protocols & services, policies, procedures, physical security, risk management, configuration management, ethics, access control, security architecture, continuity of operations, contingency planning, disaster recovery, application security, and cyber-security rules, laws, and regulations.
Knowledge and Skills of the CIO:
Interpersonal skills are required to deal with personnel situations. The need to persuade and sell in the liaison role with top management calls for a high degree of human relations skills.
Considerable management skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position.
A comprehensive knowledge of the information systems technology subjects and extensive knowledge of hardware and software, with the ability to keep abreast of new technologies.
Experience of the CIO:
Bachelor of Science in related field such as Computer Science, Information Science and Security, or related subject is required.
10+ years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Certification of two or more of the following: CISSO, CISM, CHP, CGEIT, CSCS, CISSP, ISSAP
Demonstrated depth of knowledge of information technology systems and processes required in a managed care environment.
Proven sound business judgment and excellent analytic and problem solving skills and organization skills.
Analyses, plans and recommendations are well reasoned, timely, thorough and accurate and enhance the financial decision-making capacity of the organization.
Demonstrated depth of knowledge of information technology compliance with HIPAA and other legal requirements.
Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in building and leading strong and effective IT teams.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; interacts effectively and appropriately with all levels of management and staff.
Strong project manager with experience in managing basic to complex projects from conception to conclusion, including resource allocations, project budgets, and priority changes
Experience with information system (technology) disaster recovery planning and testing, auditing, risk analysis, business system resumption planning, and contingency planning.
The Chief Information Officer role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Charlotte, NC. Must have experience as a CIO. Target salary is up to $225,000 with a 25% bonus, but client will go higher for the right person. They will also provide relocation assistance. No sponsorship available.
