DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Uses the computer to assist citizens, type correspondence, and track program requests. Maintains records and files. Primarily responsible for reducing filing backlog, disposing of old files, closing and filing pending files Responsible for incoming phone calls to the Division; greet, properly refers, and assists visitors to the Division. Incoming phone calls answered within three to four rings. Visitors greeted promptly. Produces required materials accurately and promptly. Performs typing and simple clerical duties, including maintaining records and files and distributing mail. Type correspondence, reports, charts, requisitions, lists, labels, etc. Maintains records and files. Performs other assignments as needed or requested based on the needs of the Division.
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling. No special knowledge of any subject area or technical field is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED
Must pass a city administered typing test with a score of 40 words per minute.
