Job Description:
The School of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education at the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL), a comprehensive land-grant research university and member of the Association of American Universities, invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a twelve month, time limited, non-tenure track position with an initial appointment for one year. This position is time limited and continuation of this appointment is contingent upon the availability of funding and satisfactory performance in the position. This position will begin mid May 2013 and will be based in Miami, Florida.
Salary is negotiable based on education and qualifications.
Job responsibilities include:
•Engage in and support research and school reform initiatives of the Teacher Leadership for School Improvement program and the Lastinger Center for Learning.
•Act as a liaison between the College of Education, partner schools, and school districts in South Florida.
•Teach innovative, school improvement based courses in on-line and traditional environments.
•Convene cohort meetings to support course learning and encourage collaborative interactions.
•Coach and mentor teachers and administrators at school sites.
•Provide service and leadership to professional organizations.
•Serving in school improvement initiatives, particularly in high needs, high-poverty schools.
•A potential to significantly contribute to research and evaluation initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
Required Qualifications-
•Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction, supervision, professional development or a closely related field. Expertise in elementary education is preferred.
•A record of successful teaching, preferably in K-6 settings and working in schools.
•Record of scholarship (e.g., publications, grants conference presentations)
•Ability and willingness to work collaboratively and a commitment to collegiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications-
•Knowledge of education research methods.
•Experience with university –school partnerships.
•Experience in working with a diverse student population, particularly students with special needs or English Language Learners.
