The selected candidate will serve as Neurosurgery Practice, Operations and Service Line Manager and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Neurosurgery practice operations including providing support to the Chief of Neurosurgery and the Department Administrator in the areas of finance, personnel, and facilities for the Section of Neurosurgery. Financial functions to be performed include assisting in budget preparation, financial analysis, equipment purchases, and preparation of new service feasibility studies. Personnel functions include providing leadership and administrative support for physician and non-physician providers, recruitment of staff, and oversight of administrative and clinical support staff. Facility management functions include anticipating needs and recommending options for attaining office and clinical space. Other responsibilities include assisting in long-range planning, outreach program (patient referral network) development, marketing of neurosurgery services, negotiation of contracts, sponsored and non-sponsored research administration, and serving as the section representative at the Brody School of Medicine and other administrative meetings when needed. Extensive coordination, planning, and communication required with Vidant Neurosurgery staff, managers, etc., to engage coordination of efficient and quality patient care.

An advanced degree in business, economics, health administration/management, or public health administration is strongly preferred. Clinical management and experience in a surgical or specialty clinic is preferred.


The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital). Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an appropriately accredited four-year college with a degree in business administration, public administration, health care administration, or a related program and three years of clinical or administrative management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This position is subject to the Broad Banding Salary Administration Plan. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
