The Clinical Nurse Educator, under the guidance of the Education Manager, is responsible for professional staff development. This includes the development and provision of Patient Care Orientation, development of current unit-based competencies, development of modalities to ensure new competencies, plan for house wide dissemination of new processes or clinical equipment, collaboration with unit-based educators, provision of general continuing education and provision of oversight of required annual education.

Qualifications/Experience

A. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an accredited

school of nursing. Must have completed a baccalaureate in nursing degree. Master's degree in nursing, preferred. Certification in nursing professional development, preferred. Demonstrated expertise in clinical acute care area or community health care setting is required.Prefer demonstrated experience in planning and providing education for healt professionals and/or consumers of health care. Experience in research is desirable. Ability to demonstrate effective public speaking. Proven analytical interpersonal, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills. Experience in managing several projects with associate deadlines. Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development. Collaborates with nursing educators to design and implement education programs specific for system application and anticipated learner audience. Provides and coordinates a variety of training modalities and monitors effectiveness through appropriate evaluation techniques.

B. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: This position requires a high level of independent judgment and requires the ability to identify work to be done and the action to accomplish it both independently and through teamwork. Knowledge of principles of adult education, ability to communicate orally and in writing, to coordinate, to plan, organize, evaluate and problem solve. Must be able to operate office and Audio-visual equipment including laptop and LCD projector. Computer skills in Word and Powerpoint. Strong customer service skills.

C. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois and Iowa is required.
