POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to Nutrition Clinical Supervisor. Works independently and implements the nutrition care plan as ordered by the physician and as planned by the clinical dietitian.

Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge: Must be able to read and follow precise instructions. Must be able to comprehend Hospital diets and menus. Requires knowledge of Nutrition computer software and systems. Skills: Requires excellent communication skills to interact with medical staff, patients, family, and other Hospital employees. Requires strong basic math skills and reading comprehension. Requires analytical ability to determine patient adherence to nutritional plans and dietary restrictions. Ability to learn and operate general office equipment. Must be proficient with personal computers and be able to utilize the department software programs. Requires flexibility to cross-train and subsequently cover multiple teams. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: None applicable

Work Experience: Requires three to four months on the job orientation and on the job training to acquire necessary familiarity with departmental policies and procedures, computer programs, and diet therapy. Previous hospital or healthcare experience preferred.

Machines, Tools, Equipment: Computer, telephone, calculator, fax machine, photocopier, beepers, and voice mail.
