This position will work closely with the trauma program leadership to drive performance improvement through oversight of the trauma registry, data analysis and management of information. This position will support Level II (MCR) and Level III (PVH) ACS verified and State designated Trauma Centers in the northern region of University of Colorado Health.

The Trauma Clinical Quality Data Analyst will incorporate ICD coding, injury scoring, and national standards and methodologies to validate, analyze and report trauma quality information. Other responsibilities include management of the trauma registry database, and provide support for administrative, education, research, outreach, and injury prevention initiatives.

Position Summary: Perform information technology support activities. Develop data abstraction tools to support external and internal quality initiatives. Enter and verify data collected into computer databases and pertinent web-based applications. Ensure timely submission of data for internal and external requirements.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Computer Science, Informatics, or relevant field required. Master's degree preferred.

Required Experience:

Minimum 3 years working in a healthcare environment with familiarity of quality assessment systems and electronic health record required.

Preferred Qualifications: Database design, training, and maintenance experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Must possess an affinity for understanding complex concepts and process improvement.

Ability to work independently using critical thinking skills.

Initiative, innovation, and problem solving skills to respond to a variety of situations appropriately and to make recommendations to initiate process improvements.

Statistical analysis skills.

Demonstrates skills in use of statistical process control tools such as control charts, pareto charts, etc preferred.

Ability to demonstrate excellent judgment, and attention to detail and process. Must be able to expeditiously handle multiple and competing responsibilities and prioritize appropriately.

Discretion, confidentiality, tact, and ability to deal with sensitive issues.
