The CNA in surgery works under the direction of the director of surgical services, the unit manager of surgery, the charge RN and / or the nursing supervisor. The OR Nursing Assistant is responsible for the safe transportation of the surgical patient, follows set procedures in the Pre-op Holding Area in caring for the surgical patient, including those in the patient population served. The CNA performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, restocking and ordering functions for the Surgery Department on a daily basis. The CNA performs in and about the surgical suites, and performs supervised surgical preps. The CNA staffs the Central Core on a daily basis providing support for supplies needed in Surgical Suites. The CNA performs duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Licenses and Certifications Required
High school/GED. Must be able to follow written procedures for care of patients and department. Must know proper lifting techniques and how to handle special equipment for Surgery. Must be able to follow verbal directions.
Preferred past work experience, but not required.
Special Skills or Training Requirements
None OR experience and skills in OR nurse assistant roles preferred.
