Responsible for coding and billing the professional medical fees of varying specialties for all faculty physicians within the Department of Medicine. This position involves extracting billable services from the patient charts and procedure reports and applying appropriate CPT and ICD -9 codes and then entering these services in the TES billing system for submission. This position works closely with faculty, fellows, and the residents in the respective Divisions to provide education on correct coding, proper documentation to maximize physician reimbursement, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Ability to handle confidential material in compliance with HIPAA . Licensure and Certifications-Certified Professional Coder ( CPC ) (American Academy of Professional Coders) or Certified Coding Specialist ( CCS -P) (American Health Information Management Association) or Certified Coding Associate ( CCA ) (American Health Information Management Association) required.
