Job Description:
The Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time Coding Reimbursement Analyst 3. Responsible for the coding and billing of professional medical fees for all faculty physicians in the Division of Pulmonary and Mycobacteriology. This position involves extracting billable services from the patient charts and procedure reports and applying appropriate CPT and ICD -9 codes for MICU service, consult service, IMC service, CTICU coverage, bronchoscopies and PFT lab services and then entering these services in the EPIC billing system for submission. This position works closely with the faculty and fellows in the respective divisions to provide education on correct coding to maximize physician reimbursement and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma and two years of appropriate experience. College course work or vocational training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Ability to handle confidential material in compliance with HIPAA . Licensure and Certifications-Certified Professional Coder ( CPC ) (American Academy of Professional Coders) or Certified Coding Specialist ( CCS -P) (American Health Information Management Association) or Certified Coding Associate ( CCA ) (American Health Information Management Association) required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, CPT and ICD -9 coding required
Personal computer skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to handle confidential material in compliance with HIPAA .
Proficiency in data entry required.
