AboutWeb is currently seeking a COGNOS report developer for a government project in Falls Church, VA.
Summary of expected duties and responsibilities: Support the full report development life cycle, including:
Working with the customer to gather and document business analytics requirements including: data, layout, and delivery requirements.
Creating data modeling solutions to support business analytics requirements.
Building dashboard-style reports combining list, cross-tabular, and chart displays to give executives an "at-a-glance" look at the health of the agency/organization.
Documenting the design of reports and tracing the design solution to the initial requirement.
Coordinating with Software Testers and Release Management to integrate the final work product into the production environment and transition the maintenance of the report to operational staff.
Working with other Development team members to develop integrated solutions that meet customer requirements.
Supporting the customer's end-user community by providing remote development support
Troubleshoot report development issues by querying the report source data directly using Enterprise database tools and communicate those issues to enterprise DBAs for verification/resolution.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
Experience: 5-10 yrs
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience (Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field - highly desired; Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field is a plus). Must also have at least 5 years of development experience using the Cognos 8 BI Platform.
The candidate must meet the following requirements:
Minimum of three (2) years experience with the Cognos BI Platform including the following:
Cognos 8 Framework Manager
Cognos 8 Query Studio
Cognos 8 Report Studio
Minimum of three (2) years of basic SQL query writing with an understanding of Enterprise databases and how Cognos leverages databases including:
SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 Query Analyzer/Management Studio
Oracle 11g
Other Desired Qualifications:
? Enterprise experience in the following Skills Sets/Technologies considered a plus:
Cognos Transformer including Cognos PowerCube automation
Cognos Metrics Studio / Designer including Scorecarding and Strategy elements
Cognos 8 Administration
Cognos 8 Event Studio
Cognos 8 Analysis Studio
MS SharePoint 2010
MS Project Server 2010
HP Quality Center
Serena Dimensions
Excellent communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel, application development personnel, and management
Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
Flexibility and adaptability to working in a dynamic software development environment
