Support the Manager, Animal Welfare Assurance and Executive Director, Research Integrity & Assurance within the Office of Research Compliance (ORC). Administer the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs) including scheduling meetings, setting agenda, and taking minutes. Manage application and submission process. Assist investigators with the completion of applications or other submissions for review and provide technical assistance. Screen applications to facilitate timely review by appropriate committee. Ensure compliance with institutional standards and assist with facilitating approval of applications and other submissions. Recommend improvements or changes to committee guidelines or training programs resulting from committee discussion and/or changes in regulatory environment or institutional policy. Work closely with investigators and others to educate them on policies and regulations, provide best-practices, recommend improvements to conditions or processes and improve general compliance on an ongoing basis. Keep abreast of regulatory environment and requirements from federal, state and local agencies and make recommendations for updates to University policies to reflect those requirements. Conduct facility and laboratory inspections.
Requires: B.A./B.S. in a scientific field (preferably experience with animal research models), working knowledge of Microsoft Office, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and one to three years of related work experience.
