This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

Adminsters desktop client support and provides customer service support. Monitors ongoing operations of desktop systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and operational standards are met.
Installs and maintains hardware and can act as the Equipment Custodian (EC) for the Information Technology (IT) assets, IAW applicable Air Force Instructions.
Ensures suspense (s) and appropriate worksheets and reports are completed. Provides guidance to unit equipment custodians (EC) on changes to regulations, policies and procedures.
Accomplishes risk analysis related duties in support of wings overall system certification and accreditation (C&A).
Provides training and assistance to customers. Provides customer training and assistance for new computer systems installations and sets up system and user profiles.

At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent.
Specialized experience includes: Providing initial systems diagnostics testing. Troubleshooting hardware, software, and desktop Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity problems, resolving partial service failures (software and hardware related), connecting peripherals, partitions and formatting drives, handling routine maintenance, systems back-ups, diagnostics and data recovery.

(TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions:
Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of DOD and Air Force Information systems and information assurance processing standards, policies and techniques. Knowledge of information processing sequences, controls and procedures.
Knowledge of the terminiology, codes, abbreviations, and graphics troubleshooting computer systems. Knowledge of information management programs, procedures and requirements such as PA/FOIA/FOUO, records management, data management, publications and forms management, RCS reports, etc.
Knowledge of operating systems and associated equipment configurations, including peripherals.
Ability to analyze computer software and/or hardware problems and develop economical solutions. Ability to train users. Knowledge of internet security, network environment, network configuration, NetWare service and support, sharing and securing network resources.
Knowledge of a variety of computers and computer-related equipment, software, and hardware in order to install, upgrade, configure, and maintain equipment and software.
Ability to troubleshoot many and all hardware and software-related problems. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position requires the incumbent to obtain and retain a security clearance as designated by security access requirement (SAR) code.
May be required to work overtime to meet special workload demands.
The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY).
This is an Air Reserve Technician position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbents regular assignments are ART duties, however, the incumbent may be assigned come non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
Per DOD 8750.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment of these duties. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. Information Assurance Certificate is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirements. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DOD 8570.01-M, C126.96.36.199 or C3.2.4. . Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
