Update and maintain databases by setting and enforcing standards and controls, prepares for database expansion by studying plans and requirements, advise senior technical management, coordinates design and programming, secures database by developing policies, procedures, and controls.
Implement and maintain quality-checking algorithms for weather data, monitors and reviews weather observations, implement corrective action when appropriate, design and implement automated self-diagnostics and QC algorithms that look at raw sensor data and prevent questionable data from being stored in the database without verification.
Develop and perform statistical analysis of long-term historical weather data, conduct trend analysis, implement algorithms to detect the event of extreme events and to rank the warmest, coldest, driest, and wettest periods on record for each of a given weather station.
Web programming: Monitor performance and upgrade web-based tools on AgroClimate.org, design and implement improved web page layouts and functionally of the system. This task requires working knowledge of PHP and Java programming language.
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years directly related professional work experience.
